Michael Djamil

Black Belt - Bravos BJJ Coach
Michael Djamil is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt under head coach Rodrigo Giraldes.
He has been practicing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu since 2011 and in 2021 was promoted to his Black Belt at 39 years of age.
Michael has competed in several state competitions during his journey with the latest in 2022, where he placed 3rd in the Adults Brown and 1st in the Masters 2 Brown divisions.
Competition is a great way to pressure test your learning and to overcome any nerves.
Starting out in martial arts practicing Tae Kwon Do for 10 years, he saw a gap between his striking and grappling game, so decided to try a BJJ class. After realizing how much he didn’t know, the change to the new martial art was an easy one.
Another 10 years on, the passion for learning BJJ is still strong and as you get older, being able to continue to train is a big positive due to the big focus on technique over strength.
Michael has always enjoyed sharing his knowledge and after enrolling his own children into BJJ, the opportunity arose to start his coaching journey. Keeping kids engaged while also learning is a challenge but one that he takes in his stride
