Rodrigo Giraldes is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt, the owner and head coach of Bravos Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He has been practicing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for more than 25 years and received his black belt in 2011 from Master Adriano Silva “Grifo,” an 11-time world champion.
Rodrigo has extensive experience working with athletes of all levels, from beginners to advanced competitors. He has coached his team to win +23x times the Best Team Trophy in WA under AFBJJ, and multiple international titles including the most prestigious championship on planet the IBJJF Worlds in the USA.
His approach to teaching focuses on the fundamentals of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, with an emphasis on technique, strategy, and discipline.
As the head coach of Bravos BJJ, Rodrigo is dedicated to providing his students with the highest level of training possible. He has created a positive and supportive environment at the gym, where students of all ages and skill levels can learn and grow.
Rodrigo is registered under several Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu federations, including the IBJJF, AFBJJ, and FPJJ, and has trained numerous athletes who have achieved success in high-level competitions.
Ben Wheeler is a highly accomplished Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt in 2019 under the guidance of head coach Rodrigo Giraldes.
His remarkable journey in BJJ commenced in 2011. Ben has consistently excelled in competitive arenas, including his impressive victories at the Pan Pacific Championship in 2022 and 2019, as well as securing second place in the Australian Nationals 2022 at the Black Belt level.
Notably, as a Brown Belt, Ben attained the distinguished status of being the top-ranked competitor in Australia in 2017 and achieved a commendable second-place finish at the UAEJJF Continental Pro in 2018.
Throughout his progression in the sport, Ben has garnered numerous state titles and Australian championships across various belt ranks, solidifying his reputation as a formidable force in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Ben’s passion for sharing his expertise shines through in his coaching endeavors, particularly in the dynamic realm of No Gi. His unwavering dedication, remarkable achievements, and commitment to continuous growth make him a highly respected figure in the BJJ scene.
Igor Martins is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt under head coach Rodrigo Giraldes.
Igor has been doing BJJ since 2013 and was awarded Black Belt in 2023.
With a passion for Jiu-Jitsu that began at the age of 15, Igor has experienced tremendous personal growth and achieved numerous notable accomplishments throughout his journey.
His commitment and skill have led to an impressive list of titles and championships in his competitive career. Igor is a 13-time South Brazilian State Champion across various belt levels, consistently demonstrating his prowess on the mats.
Among his achievements, Igor has secured the prestigious titles of Abu Dhabi Trials Champion, South Brazilian Champion, and 5-time WA State Champion.
He has also proven his versatility and determination by becoming a 2-time Double Gold Brown Belt WA State Champion, a 3-time SGT State Champion, and a Grappling Super Fight winner. Igor’s silver medals at the Australian Nationals reflect his ability to compete at the highest levels of the sport.
Coach Junior is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt under the same coach as professor Rodrigo, Master Adriano Silva.
He has been practicing BJJ with coach Adriano since 2015 and was promoted to Black Belt in 2022.
Throughout his progression in the sport, Junior won multiple local State Competitions in Brazil and podiumed in National Competitions.
Junior is passionate about teaching BJJ bringing always a good energy to every single class he teaches.
DK is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt under head coach Rodrigo Giraldes.
He has been a student of coach Rodrigo since 2015 and started coaching at Bravos BJJ when it first opened in 2018. In 2023 he was promoted to Black Belt.
Coach DK brings his enthusiastic nature to every class he teaches. He finds a passion and excitement in seeing the growth in others as they develop both their technique and character.
DK holds years of experience within mental health disciplines and values the impact of an open and honest approach to his instruction.
DK has been an avid practitioner and competitor since the beginning of his BJJ journey. Throughout his career, DK has competed in both Gi & No-Gi across the world. He has won numerous state titles, has won the Australian Championship, and has competed in the ADCC Trials.
DK has coached alongside Rodrigo to achieve a number of Team State Championships in Gi & No-Gi that have earned Bravos its reputation. In addition to this, DK has achieved Black Belts within a number of other Martial Arts across the striking and more traditional disciplines.
